simplicity=strength

I have an assignment to paint a design. I was to create design that uses letters, shapes and five colors. I think I am going with this design.

While sketching thumbnails of other ideas, I kept trying to simplify the design. I decided to take my advice literally.

The lettering here was incredibly fun to draw and duplicate in illustrator. Now all I have to do is produce it with paint. I think taking steps away from the computer really helps put what design is really all about in perspective. Yeah, I used a computer, but I drew it first... the computer was to get the colors right. I should have veered away from the mouse all together.

Colonies Live

This past weekend Colonies came to Rexburg. I played as well with National Holiday and The Awful Truth.

Travis and Christan are two of the members and I have been playing music with them since we were kids. It was a killer show, and Colonies tore it up. Great job guys. Oh, one of you left your Noxima in our shower.

Tarrant Apparel Group web site

The client, an LA based denim company, was looking to revamp their web site. Tarrant Apparel Group wanted a web site to display their clothing to both consumers and retail chains, hoping to land their lines in more stores. Since their clothing was already sold at Macy’s, JCPenny’s and more, it was important that the new web site spoke to the fashion community.

Paint is the new pixel

I am in a class that requires me to paint a bit, and this is the first finished product it produced.

Today I ran into Jesse and clicked a neato photo that I broke down into two values. I think it was successful! It's acrylic on cold-press board. This is really the second time I've touched acrylics. I am excited to do something with some color (and a bit afraid).
